Valkyrie League

What is Valkyrie League?

Empowering Girls in Esports

At Garden State Esports, we believe that every student deserves a place in the world of competitive gaming. The Valkyrie League was born from this commitment to inclusivity, offering a dedicated space for girls and marginalized genders to thrive, compete, and showcase their skills.

A Bridge to Co-Ed Teams

The Valkyrie League isn’t just a league; it’s a pathway. By providing a supportive and empowering environment, we’ve seen more girls gain the confidence to join our co-ed teams, breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive gaming community. This league has served as a bridge, encouraging girls to take their first steps into the competitive esports world and then excel on broader stages.

Why Valkyrie League?

The Valkyrie League is a critical platform that addresses the unique challenges girls face in esports. It also empowers Club Advisors and allies to actively combat the abuse that girls encounter in gaming, STEM, and beyond. This league isn’t about separating players—it’s about giving them the tools and confidence they need to thrive.

Participants in the Valkyrie League have the opportunity to earn a state championship title, and because this league is designed as an additional option, they can also compete on their co-ed varsity teams. This dual participation ensures that girls are not isolated but instead have expanded opportunities to grow and succeed.

The Valkyrie League fosters confidence, builds a supportive community, and serves as a vital stepping stone for girls who might otherwise feel intimidated or outnumbered in co-ed environments. By offering this league, we create more opportunities for girls to hone their skills, find their voices, and contribute to a more diverse and balanced competitive scene.

And it’s working! Since launching the Valkyrie League, the participation of female and marginalized players in our league has soared from 4% to 19%. The Valkyrie League is making a real difference, creating a more inclusive and vibrant esports community.
