For Immediate Release – Garden State Esports Receives $34,000 Grant from Grunin Foundation to Improve Esports Career Education Program for Students
The grant will be used to educate and connect students with college and career opportunities in the esports ecosystem
NEW JERSEY, July 12, 2021 – The Grunin Foundation, known for fueling economic excellence by investing in innovations in the arts, education and healthcare at the Central Jersey Shore, has provided a $34,000 grant to Garden State Esports for its Career Education Program. Garden State Esports (GSE) is a nonprofit founded by educators for students to create high-quality, student-centered experiences through scholastic esports by providing the learning, competition, and the community needed for all students to use esports as a platform to grow.
The grant from the Grunin Foundation will help improve the Career Education Program, which connects GSE’s scholar athletes with the higher education institutions and employers looking to recruit them. It will impact thousands of students from GSE’s 100+ school districts, by giving them the opportunity to receive hands-on technical educational training and career guidance from industry professionals, then ultimately connecting them with relevant opportunities and employers.
Esports is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. For every professional esports athlete, there are dozens of industry jobs, most of which are STEM jobs. Esports in education can be used to provide students with hands on experience in these in-demand fields.
“We are so impressed by Garden State Esports and the Career Education Program. Through their use of esports in education, GSE is not only helping students with social-emotional learning and overall wellness, but growing diverse communities and providing opportunities and connections for careers. We have no doubt that GSE will impact the lives of many students as well as the entire community and economy,” said Jeremy Grunin, President of the Grunin Foundation.
“Thanks to the Grunin Foundation’s generosity, we will be able to offer new and expanded STEM learning opportunities for all of our participants and school districts so they can better compete for the collegiate and career opportunities available in the esports ecosystem,” said Chris Aviles, Founder and President of GSE.
